Your oral health is so important, that keeping up with your daily cleaning routine is imperative. But what do you do when you’re sick and can barely get out of bed in the morning? Here are a few ways to help care for your mouth and oral health when you’re feeling under the weather.
1. Good Hygiene
This is when you cover your mouth while you cough and sneeze, and wash your hands after you cough and sneeze. Good hygiene is when you do not share your toothbrush when you’re sick and you replace it when you are well.
2. Sugar-Free Cough Drops.
This one is important because sickness LOVES sugar. Make sure that sugar content is low.
3. Swish and Spit.
Unfortunately, throwing up is a side effect of being sick. And to get that corrosive stomach acid out of your mouth we swish and spit with water and baking soda to neutralize that stomach acid on your teeth.
4. Hydration.
So important to stay properly hydrated especially during the winter since cold weather has a tendency to dehydrate, along with the antihistamines and analgesic cold medicines.
5. Right Fluids.
Equally important to how much hydration is what to drink. The best thing to drink is water, put a little pinch of sea salt or honey to make sure that water gets into your cells. And if you need something warm to drink, just heat that water up.
