Childhood is supposed to be fun and carefree, but some situations can create overwhelming pressures for your little ones. While certain levels of stress are unavoidable, there are a few ways you can help them cope with their troubles. Besides, being a kid is supposed to be fun, not busy and stressful!

Listen. Sometimes, the biggest way to support your child is by listening to them. Be attentive to their feelings and avoid your urge to judge; remain interested, patient, and open.

Define. Many younger kids don’t understand their feelings because they haven’t learned the proper terminology. Putting feelings into words helps kids communicate and develop emotional awareness. So, if your child seems angry or frustrated, help them identify those emotions by name.

Limit. If you notice that certain situations are stressors for your little one, there may be a way you can fix it. For instance, having a busy schedule can be overwhelming for young kids, so try to limit their activities to give them more time and energy.

Relax. No parent wants to see their child unhappy, but try to resist the urge to fix every problem. Instead, teach your kids problem-solving tools, this will help them manage the many stresses that are still to come in their future.
